fritz-kola: the coffee soda

fritz-kola

fritz-kola is a beverage company from Hamburg, Germany. This company sells a handful of coffee flavored carbonated beverages including “fritz-kola”, “fritz-limo”, a sugar free fritz-kola, and a version of fritz-kola with the sweetness of Stevia.

It’s also worth noting that several melon, apple-cherry elderberry, lemon and orange flavored varieties are marketed under the name fritz-limo.

All variants of the drinks are sold in 0.33-liter bottles, and generally contain distinctively powerful amounts of caffeine (25 mg of caffeine per 100 ml compared to other colas that typically have 10 mg of caffeine per 100 ml).

fritz-kola products are sold exclusively in glass bottles so that all the bottles can be easily recycled.

All of this company’s beverages are in fact considered to be vegan, and the owners apparently met each other and became close friends when they were children in the boy scouts.

Aside from being such a uniquely flavored cola, this drink is well-known for somewhat defeating Coca-Cola’s control over Germany’s very one dimensional list of beverages outside of beer. That is to say until fritz came around, your only beverage options were Coke or water if you didn’t feel like drinking a beer that day in Germany.
